Gas cylinder manufacturer Cylingas has signed a contract with Pyramid Engineering to develop a modular refinery in Fujairah

Cylingas, a subsidiary of Emirates National Oil Company (ENOC) would design, fabricate, install, inspect, test, paint and commission 19 above-ground tanks and associated piping systems within the refinery terminal, stated Cylingas in a statement.

The refinery is being developed by Ecomar Energy Solutions, a maritime and offshore services firm.

Saif Al Falasi, executive director of Cylingas, said, “The contract underlines the competencies of Cylingas to undertake large-scale projects that demand extensive mechanical and piping work. It complements our growth strategy to expand our operations across the region by offering high-end solutions developed to the highest standards of quality.”

According to reports, the refinery has a processing capacity of 7,500 bpd and the storage tank terminal has a capacity of 91,000 cu metres, making it a major contract for Cylingas.

The company will undertake the mechanical and piping requirements for the tanks- ranging from four metres to 29.5 metres in diametre, and from five metres to 20.5 metres in height, providing storage capacity of 91,000 cu metres for handling naphtha, diesel, gas oil, fuel oil, kerosene, slop and water.

The piping package for the project includes residual engineering design, procurement, safe storage, fabrication, inspection, painting and surface preparation, insulation, testing and commissioning of piping systems and lines. The pipelines linking the terminal to the jetty will be two to 16 inches in diameter.

Ashish Bajpal, managing director of Pyramid Engineering, said, “The modular refinery in Fujairah further builds on its reputation as one of the fastest growing global hubs in the UAE. Cylingas supports our vision to develop a modern refinery and associated systems, with proven expertise in developing world-class projects.”

The project is scheduled for completion by end 2015, added authorities.
