BP Iraq awards Air Energi talent acquisition contract

Industry

Workforce solutions provider for the energy, process and infrastructure sector Air Energi has won a five-year talent supply contract from BP Iraq

Under the agreement, Air Energi will deliver talent acquisition services for BP Iraq’s Middle East operations as well as supply expatriate contractors to support Iraq’s Rumaila and Kirkuk oilfields. Together, the two oilfields accounted for 40 per cent of Iraq’s total oil production in 2014. This deal is the company’s largest contract in the region yet and is also its first with BP.

Air Energi will provide personnel for the full product cycle, from exploration to appraisal, project execution and production, and also for coordination between BP’s head office in Sunbury, UK and the operational base in Iraq.

Andy Ryan, vice-president for Middle East and Central Asia at Air Energi, said, “The company’s local knowledge and expertise, combined with our proven global mobility capabilities and access to talent, means we are perfectly placed to support BP’s operations in Iraq. Iraq presents a significant growth opportunity for Air Energi. This contract award is an opportunity to gain further traction in the region, cementing our position as the trusted partner for global workforce solutions.”

Referring to security issues and concerns in the region, Paul Howarth, Air Energi’s delivery manager for Iraq, added that the company is transparent with clients about health and safety policies, and that based on its own knowledge of the situation, the company would not mobilise anyone till it was confident of matters on the ground.

Contractors are also put through a rigorous pre-screening and on-boarding process to ensure they understand what they are getting into. They are then kept up-to-date with latest security-related developments via Air Energi’s global mobility team.
