Elmac Technologies’ flashback guards provide protection against air or fuel intakes on large burners and oxidisers that could convert into flammable atmospheres
In oil and gas industry, the flame arresters protect storage tanks, vapour recovery systems and other key processes against the effects of accidental ignition.
Most flame arresters comprise an element and housing suitable for installation into pipework or process plant. The element is a permeable matrix that quenches the flame, but allows gas to flow. In the event that a flame front reaches the element, the flame is extinguished and the accompanying pressure wave or shock wave is attenuated.
The UK-based company has also developed a range of 304L and 316L stainless steel knitted mesh panels, which perform the functions of flashback guards and spark arresters.
The corrosion-resistant stainless steel products are available custom-designed in both rectangular and circular shapes, and depending on size, could be provided as single or modular units.
Flashback guards and spark arresters can be used in a wide variety of applications to prevent the passage of incandescent particles from one part of a plant or system or process to another, allowing only the flow of air.
