A reported 8.36mn tonnes of gas condensates worth US$6.96bn were exported from the South Pars natural gas field in the year ending March 2014, according to the International Energy Agency
Director general of the PSEEZ customs department, Khodadad Rahimi, highlighted that the figure indicates three percent and 11 percent increase in terms of weight and value, respectively, in comparison to the same period the previous year.
The gas condensates have been mainly exported to Afghanistan, Armenia, Azerbajan, China, Egypt, Georgia, Ghana, India, Iraq, Japan, Kenya, Malaysia, Mozambique, Mexico, Pakistan, Philippines, Qatar, Russia, Syria, South Korea, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Taiwan, Thailand, Tanzania, Ukraine and Vietnam, PSEEZ said.
According to the International Energy Agency, the South Pars field covers an area of 9,7000 sq m, 3700 sq m of which lie in Irans territorial waters in the Persian Gulf. The remaining 6,000 sq km, also referred to as the North Dome are situated in Qatars territorial waters.
The South Pars gas field is estimated to currently hold 14 trillion cu/m of gas in addition to 18bn barrels of condensates, the agency stated.
