Dolphin Energy Limited has awarded contracts worth US$136 million to Rolls-Royce to supply technology and long-term services support to its gas processing plant in Ras Laffan, Qatar
The power systems company will supply three new industrial Trent gas turbine compression units to Dolphin Energy. The units, each rated at 52MW, will join six similar Rolls-Royce units previously installed by the company in 2006.
"I am delighted that Rolls-Royce technology has again been selected to support the Dolphin Gas Project, one of the largest cross border energy infrastructure projects ever undertaken in the Middle East," said Rolls-Royce Energy president Andrew Heath.
"The supply of three new Rolls-Royce Trent gas turbines to Dolphin Energy is testimony to the six units already installed on the project. To date, these have recorded more than 150,000 operating hours, transporting billions of standard cubic feet of gas to meet the energy needs of the UAE and Oman."
The equipments will be manufactured at Rolls-Royce's facilities in Canada and US. The company is expected to deliver the units to Dolphin Energy in the second and third quarters of 2013.
Additionally, Dolphin Energy has signed a TotalCare long-term equipment service agreement with Rolls-Royce, to increase equipment availability and reliability.
Dolphin Energy currently transports processed gas from its plant in Qatar to the UAE and Oman through a 364km subsea pipeline.
