Saudi Aramco has inaugurated a new gas network in Yanbu that will be able to feed around 15mn cfd of natural gas to companies in the industrial city.

The nine km-long network will be operated by Marafiq, the power and water utility serving Yanbu and Jubail. Saudi Aramco plans to increase the capacity of its Master Gas System (MGS) from 10.2 bcf/d in 2010 to 15.5 bcf/d by 2015. This may be further expanded to 55mn cfd later, Aramco said.

Marafiq's main shareholders are the Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu, Saudi Basic Industries Corp (SABIC), the Public Investment Fund (PIF) and Aramco.
