Fugro wins contract service extension in Iraq

Gas

Fugro has been awarded a three-year technical contract extension by Basrah Gas Company (BGC) in Iraq

The contract covers the provision of topographic and geotechnical services as well as bathymetric surveys and metocean services.

The Netherlands-based company had won the contract in March 2014 for providing geotechnical and topographical survey investigation services to support engineering projects for an onshore NGL plant, new pipelines and anticipated expansion of gas compression facilities.

Apart from technical assistance, Fugro has also provided two geotechnical rigs and four survey teams on a permanent basis, supplemented by additional teams as required, to BGC.

The Iraqi company captures associated gas from three oilfields in southern Iraq — Rumaila, West Qurna 1 and Zubair.

According to Fugro, the extension of the contract provides continuity of quality enabling BGC to meet its current and future requirements.
