JGC awards US$14mn Qatar heat exchanger order to Alfa Laval

Gas

Alfa Laval has received an order from JGC Corporation in Japan to supply heat exchangers for a new major natural gas project in Qatar.

The order value is just shy of US$14mn and delivery is scheduled for 2012.

The order placed by JGC Corporation, consists of various heat exchangers to the Barzan Onshore gas plant, located in Ras Laffan Industrial City, north of Doha.

The Alfa Laval heat exchangers will be used for recovering energy in the gas cleaning process and for process cooling of the overall gas plant.

"Alfa Laval has a strong position in the oil and gas markets and has delivered products and solutions to Qatar's gas fields for many years. This order confirms the continuously high activity within the oil and gas industry - and is also a direct result from our strong presence in Japan", says Lars Renstrom, President and CEO of the Alfa Laval Group.

The Barzan Project

The Barzan Project, managed by RasGas Company Limited, a joint venture between Qatar Petroleum and ExxonMobil, is planned to start commercial production in 2014, and produce 1.4 billion cubic feet per day, mainly for the local market.

Alfa Laval is a provider of specialised products and engineering solutions based on its key technologies of heat transfer, separation and fluid handling.
