Taza-2 well reaches planned depth in Kurdistan Region of Iraq

Exploration & Production

Oil Search Limited has announced that its Taza-2 oilwell in Kurdistan Region of Iraq has reached a total planned depth of 4,200 metres

The Australia-listed explorer had struck hydrocarbon in April this year and is currently acquiring wireline logs over the new section of hole. Preparations too are underway for a comprehensive testing programme, likely to comprise drill stem tests over up to five intervals.

Taza-2 oilwell is located 10km north-west of Taza-1 well and is designed to appraise the hydrocarbon-bearing intervals discovered by the latter, as well as explore deeper Tertiary and Cretaceous targets, including the Shiranish Formation.

Oil Search (Iraq) Limited has a 60 per cent interest in the block with Total E&P Kurdistan Region of Iraq and the Kurdistan Regional Government with 20 per cent interest each.
