Exploration & Production

Saudi Aramco has awarded a project worth US$54mn to Essar Projects, the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) branch of Indian conglomerate Essar Group

The contract outlines a project to upgrade a crude stabilisation unit at Saudi Aramco’s Abqaia Plant in Shaybah, one of the world’s largest oilfields.

Essar Projects CEO for Hydrocarbon SBU Amit Gupta said, “This contract is a reflection of our capability to undertake global projects from reputed clients in this region. We will leverage the capabilities gained to enhance our footprint in other Middle East countries.”

With the project scheduled for completion by early 2017, the contracted work will include EPC of a crude tank, replacement of crude pumps, and associated civil, piping, electrical and instrumentation facilities.

Despite already executing five other hydrocarbon sector projects in the region, this contract is the first that Essar Projects has secured from the Saudi Arabian national oil and gas company.
