Libya’s crude oil production exceeded 700,000 bpd in the last week of September
According to a Bloomberg report, the Hamada oil field, which recently resumed operations, added 8,000 bpd to the North African nation’s crude production.
In the second week of September 2013, Libya’s crude oil production was around 620,000 bpd, after the El Sharara and El Feel oilfields recommenced production. In August 2013, Libya produced 575,000 bpd of crude.
Currently, the country has a capacity to produce 1.55mn bpd, Bloomberg reported.
Libya’s main producing fields are El Feel, El Sharara, Wafa, Brega, Al Jurf and Bouri.
Oil Ministry measurement director Ibrahim Al Awami said, “The Hamada field is sending crude to the Zawiya export terminal, in western Libya.”
The field is operated by the Arabian Gulf Oil Company that reportedly produces 23,000 bpd from fields in the eastern region, including Sarir and Messla.
“Current production from Sarir and Messla keeps some oil flowing in the pipelines, averting a complete shutdown,” al Awami added.
