Exploration & Production

Abu Dhabis National Drilling Company (NDC) has awarded Lamprell a US$333 million contract for the construction of two jackup rigs

The order is in addition to four rigs that Lamprell is already building for NDC.

The deliveries for the two jackups, valued at $166.65 million each, has been scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2014 and first quarter of 2015 respectively. The fabrication work will be done at the company's Hamriyah facility in Sharjah.

Lamprell CEO Nigel McCue commented, "This is another significant contract award, demonstrating the health of the market for jackup rigs, and reflecting Lamprell's strong reputation for quality and service, while further extending our growing order book."

All the rigs are self-elevating mobile offshore drilling platforms of a Super 116E Class design.

The new units consist of triangular hulls, three 310 foot truss type legs equipped with electro-mechanical racks and pinion elevating systems, and have a water depth capability of 200 feet and a drilling depth of 30,000 feet.
