IRG and Scotforth to carry out hydrocarbon survey onshore Tunisia

Exploration & Production

Independent Resources (IRG) has signed an exclusive agreement with Scotforth to undertake a remote sensing hydrocarbon survey of Ksar Hadada Permit in Tunisia

IRG has said that it is confident that this would allow it better to identify the hydrocarbon resource potential of the permit to support and improve the prospects of a farm-in and the intent of the survey is to complete the work in six weeks.

If successful, it would accelerate the timing of the first well being drilled, IRG said.

IRG CEO Greg Coleman said, “We are excited to have entered into this agreement with Scotforth and we are looking forward to working with them, seeing the results of their survey and sharing those results with potential farm-in partners.”

Ksar Hadada exploration permit, in the Ghadames Basin onshore Tunisia, contains the proven Ghadames Lower Palaeozoic system, whose prolific Silurian source has provided in excess of 90 per cent of the discovered hydrocarbons and occupies areas of Tunisia, Libya and Algeria.

Scotforth MD Peter Hutchison added, “We are confident that, using our proprietary RSDD-H survey technology, we will rapidly map the hydrocarbon potential within the entire 2,252 sq km Ksar Hadada Permit area and provide IRG with technology informed insight that may prove vital for the next stage in their exploration.”
