Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) Company Limited has announced that it has won a US$796mn order to build oil production facilities in the Upper Zakum oilfields, located 84km offshore Abu Dhabi
The South Korean shipbuilder won the order in a consortium with Petrofac Emirates, with production facilities to be installed on artificial islands in the region.
The facility will be built for the Zakum Development Company (ZADCO), a subsidiary of Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), the DSME said in a statement.
The contract is expected to expire by May 2017, industry sources added.
