China’s geophysical service company BGP has begun a 3D transition zone survey for Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) over Kuwait Bay
The project, which covers 2,500 sq km, is, according to BGP, is extremely challenging since the survey will cover most of inhabitant areas of Kuwait city and Kuwait bay with varied topographies intertwined by densely populated metropolis, desert, muddy wetland, uninhibited district, along with deep and shallow water areas.
Multiple types of seismic sources used in this project will be vibroseis, explosives, shallow and deep air gun sources, the company added.
The 3D Seismic Survey – Kuwait Bay Acquisition contract was signed on 1 December 2014, and it is the first ever 3D Seismic survey acquisition awarded by KOC.
