Aggreko has been awarded the Abu Dhabi Crude Oil Pipeline (ADCOP) load testing contract by China Petroleum Engineering & Construction Corporation (CPECC).
The pipeline is over 400km long and will transport up to 1.5mn barrels per day (bpd) of crude oil from the main producing areas in Abu Dhabi to the oil terminal at Fujairah, the base for the project.
10 MW loadbank test package
The contract will see Aggreko provide a 10 MW loadbank test package to the main incoming switchgear - a solution that was devised specifically for this project. The load testing will ensure that the equipment is working effectively, to avoid the risk of any damage or power failures once the whole system is permanently up and running.
Turn-key service
Jack George, electrical engineer at CPECC, said: "Aggreko has provided us with a turn-key service, meaning that the package they delivered was designed, installed, commissioned and operated by Aggreko. The knowledge of their technical specialists meant that a solution was designed to exactly suit our requirements."
Customised solutions
Phil Burns, Managing Director, Aggreko Middle East, added: "The initial discussion we had with CPECC was for loadbank testing at 11 kV, however, Aggreko can provide testing at three times that voltage, so a bespoke package was designed at 33 kV in order to ensure optimum results were achieved. This is a perfect example of how our broad experience in the oil and gas sector enables us to devise customised solutions to our customers."
