Exploration & Production

Abu Dhabi Marine Operating Company (ADMA-OPCO) has announced that it has signed a US$1.69bn engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract with the National Petroleum Construction Company (NPCC) and Technip for offshore Umm al-Lulu Field Package-2 in the UAE

According to the company, the field development is an initiative of ADNOC to add 300mn bpd of additional production from its new fields — Umm al-Lulu, Nasr and Satah Al-Razboot.

Ali Rashid Al-Jarwan, CEO of ADMA-OPCO, said, “The contract signing comes under the guidance of Abu Dhabi Government and the support of the Supreme Petroleum Council and the shareholders.”

He added that this project was one of the biggest projects ever with NPCC.

“We are proud of our partnership with NPCC which proved useful and successful,” he remarked.

The company said that the project would provide stand-alone oil production facilities comprising a large offshore super complex of six bridge-linked platforms, including gas treatment, gathering, separation, water disposal facilities, utilities and accommodation modules.

It involves the laying of subsea composite power cables to provide power and control signaling to six new wellhead towers, which are part of Umm al-Lulu Field Package-1 work, and two existing wellhead towers.

Aqeel Abdulla Madhi, CEO of NPCC, said, “This award, one of the largest in the UAE’s offshore industry, reinforces NPCC’s leadership in the regional oil and gas EPC sector.”

Technip will to be responsible for overall engineering, which will be carried out by their Abu Dhabi office, company sources said.

It will share the procurement and commissioning activities with NPCC, who will carry out fabrication of the entire facilities totalling over 66,000 metric tonnes at their yard in Mussafah and the offshore installation, the French firm added.
