Workplace diversity is becoming more important than ever as the energy sector undergoes a rapid transformation and as gender balance increasingly emerges as a factor in organisational success, female leaders said ahead of the upcoming ADIPEC 2016 ‘Women in Energy’ conference

The 2016 edition of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) Annual Technical Conference and Exhibition (ATCE) will take place in Dubai from 26-28 September, the first time the event is being held in the Middle East in its 92-year history

The event is being held under the patronage of the Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), which has a long-standing relationship with SPE, will be the host organisation, with Abdul Munim Saif Al Kindy, director, exploration development and production at ADNOC, due to give the welcome keynote address. Also speaking at the opening ceremony will be Amin H. Nasser, president and CEO, Saudi Aramco and Nathan Meehan, 2016 SPE President.

Top global oil and gas industry executives and technical experts are confirmed to speak at the event, which is being held under the theme E&P 2.0 - Transforming and Shaping the Future. It will include two plenary sessions, six panel sessions and six regional interest special sessions, addressing the most significant trends, challenges and opportunities facing the industry today and in the future. Topics for these sessions will include innovation beyond limits, boosting efficiency, unconventional reservoirs, mature fields optimisation, talent management and academic adaptation.

Qasem M. Al Kayoumi, manager, Technical Centre, ADNOC said, “ADNOCs support of ATCE and SPE is a reflection of our long-standing commitment to this important non-profit organisation. Sharing knowledge and best practice amongst industry experts is core to the success and progress of energy companies, particularly during this period when industry players are looking to increase operational efficiency and maximise profitability."

Over 2,000 papers were submitted for this year’s event, of which 540 will be presented in 58 technical sessions, covering all phases of oil and gas exploration and production. ATCE is expecting more than 8,000 attendees, who will also have the opportunity to visit a world-class exhibition with more than 250 exhibitors showcasing state-of-the-art technologies.

Saudi Aramco and Shell are supporting the event as principal sponsors, alongside OiLSERV and Industrialization & Energy Services Company (TAQA) as platinum sponsors.
