Iraq’s oil and gas sector has continued to prove its influence within the international business markets with the completion of the third edition of Basra International Oil & Gas conference and exhibition

Exhibitors and delegates from Iraq, UAE, Turkey, Germany, Jordan, the UK and the USA were among those who participated in the event, which was organised by Expotim International Fair Organizations Inc and Pyramids International Group.

Supported by the Ministry of Oil, the event was host to some of the leading companies in the industry, including Bertling, Cameron, China Petroleum Technology, CNPC, Emerson Process Management, FMC Techonologies, Honeywell, Mitsubishi, Mott MacDonald, Rumalia, Samsung, Scania, Shell, Siemens, Tenaris and Volvo.

Additionally, state-owned oil companies such as South Oil Company, South Gas Company, Iraq Drilling Company, State Company for Oil Projects, Missan Oil Company and Baghdad Training Institute played a prominant role at the event.

The theme 'Iraq: The Hub of Future Energy' saw speakers from Gulf Energy, General Electric, Shell, South Gas Company and Mott Macdonald put forward their views on their current operations in Iraq, technology, health and safety and other topics.

Discussions centred around recent developments and difficulties being encountered by companies operating in Iraq.

Mott Macdonald, also a sponsor, said, “The event offers a good balance between networking opportunities, industry insights and expert discussions at the conference. Basra is the focal point of the energy industry in Iraq and we are confident it will become soon one of the oil capitals in the world.”

The third Basra Oil & Gas was not only highlighted through the deals and contracts concluded on site, but also by its significance to manufacturers who showcased their latest products, confirming the event’s position as a key promotional tool in the industry diary.

More than 18,000 visitors from more than 35 countries took part in the largest event in Iraq’s oil & gas sector.

The fourth edition of Basra International Oil & Gas will take place between 5-8 December 2013.
