Trelleborg has signed agreement with Landing String Solutions LLC to manufacture its landing string buoyancy system featuring 100 per cent composite materials, a move that aims to market the solution to a wider customer base globally
Antony Croston, business group director with Trelleborg’s offshore operation in Houston, said, “We strive to enhance the business performance and competitiveness of our customers and are delighted to continue our agreement with Landing String Solutions.”
The agreement builds on an existing relationship where Trelleborg augmented Landing String’s vision and qualified a range of non-metallic materials to operate in drilling fluids through a range of pressures in combination with high temperatures experienced in drilling operations.
“Our new agreement opens up opportunities for us to work together to maximise awareness and expand this exciting new market,” Croston added.
Landing string buoyancy enables drilling contractors to deploy longer heavier casing and other downhole tubulars, aiming to reducing rig time, maximising efficiencies and lowering costs.
According to the company, the system may even eliminate a tieback step depending on well design, thus resulting in cost savings per well.
“The buoyancy system is designed to offset the landing string weight by up to 80 per cent in some cases and enables safer and more cost-effective deep-water oil and gas operations,” said the company to the press.
Trelleborg is one of the leading providers of engineered polymer solutions that seal, damp and protect critical applications in demanding environments across the globe. Using advanced polymer material technology, the company aims to provide high integrity solutions for the harshest and most demanding offshore environments.
