SNC-Lavalin awarded Wasit Gas Plant installation contract by Saudi Aramco

Saudi Aramco has appointed the Montreal-based SNC-Lavalin to install additional facilities for a major gas processing plant in Saudi Arabia’s Eastern Province

Under the partnership programme, SNC-Lavalin will construct the Arabiah Condensate Handling Facility and Sour Water Disposal Unit Project at the Wasit Gas Plant in Saudi Arabia.

In addition, the company will also install the process equipment as well as related civil and structural, piping, electrical and instrumentation and control systems.

According to Saudi Aramco, Middle East’s oil and gas giant, work is already underway with a target completion date by the end of 2019.

The Wasit Gas Plant is one of the largest gas plants to come onstream in Saudi Arabia, and is an enabler for the kingdom’s Vision 2030 economic roadmap, feeding into the national master gas network to meet domestic energy demand.

Commenting on the oil and gas project in the Middle East, Christian Brown, president of oil and gas at SNC-Lavalin, said, “Not only does this contract further demonstrate our industry-recognised onshore construction solutions, it also emphasises our commitment to supporting Saudi Aramco’s IKTVA localisation programme to increase the employment and skills development of local Saudi talent.”

In 2017, SNC-Lavalin signed a series fo agreements with Saudi Aramco to create and accelerate opportunities for local workforces in the kingdom of Saudi Arabia. In the same year, Atkins, member of the SNC-Lavalin Group, was awarded the US Patent (US9828072) for its marginal field production facility, the Deep Draught Production, Storage and Offloading (DDPSO).
