The Energy Industries Council (EIC), a global energy trade association, has announced the appointment of Ryan McPherson as its new Middle East Director, based at its regional headquarters in Dubai

McPherson brings more than 10 years of oil and gas industry experience to his new role at the EIC, as well as an understanding of the Middle East industry and a strong business network in the UAE and GCC states.

He joins the EIC from oil and gas water treatment solutions specialist ProSep where he led the company’s Middle East operations as general manager, working out of Abu Dhabi.

During his four years with ProSep, he secured more than US$7mn of revenue on proprietary products and integrated the company’s tools and solutions into many of the region’s national oil and gas companies’ product lines.

Prior to ProSep, McPherson was the Middle East and APAC regional director for the Industry Technology Facilitator (ITF), an Abu Dhabi membership organisation which supports oil and gas product and service companies to bring new technologies to market.

While at ITF, he signed membership contracts with ADNOC, KOC, PDO, Qatar Petroleum and Saudi Aramco, and created the first GCC Collaborative Forum for Technology Developing hosting six meetings across the GCC.

Originally from Aberdeen, Scotland, he holds an MBA in oil and gas management from the Robert Gordon University.

McPherson will take the reins from Terry Willis who is now retiring after heading up the EIC’s Dubai office for 15 years.

The new director said, "Having long admired the work carried out by the EIC and the tangible impact that it continues to deliver for its members, I will continue to build on this success by putting their needs at the forefront of everything I do, helping to maximise their potential in what continues to be one of the most exciting regions to do business."

Terry Willis added, "After spending more than 30 years in the region and having had the pleasure to establish and grow the EIC’s Middle East office, I feel that the time is now right for me to hang up my boots and hand the baton over to the next generation."
