Enterprise Control System

Franco Restelli, President of Invensys Operations Management, in his welcoming speech explained that the OpsManage was intended to create real networking sessions that would allow everyone to meet and learn from each other, from customers, partners and Invensys experts. His view was backed up by Donald Clark, VP, Global Industry Solutions who gave the main presentation on operational excellence. He argued that operational excellence can provide a road map for where we are going and gives an insight into the new pace of business.

“Trends in the Middle East and across the world are for more a more de-centralised approach that enables technology,” added Mr Clark.

The strategy at Invensys is to push Enterprise Control System (ECS) into the running of more and more plants. ECS is the combining of business strategy with production execution in real time. The aim is to transform plant operations into business operations.

This is why Invensys’s ECS, InFusion, is so revolutionary.  It allows plant systems to be run in real time. The need to systemise all systems is very important, as Mr Clark said: “The vision of today can be seen in InFusion which can run plants and refineries as businesses. Infusion can be seen as a delivery system for enterprise control.”

The OpsManage’11 event was held in Abu Dhabi last year on November 20-21.
