Edinburgh-based oil and gas consultancy Belltree has announced the appointment of Bob Reid as its non-executive director

The former chair and chief executive of Shell UK will advise and support Belltree with its continued growth into international markets, the company stated.

During his 36 year tenure at Shell, he spent much of his time overseas including posts in Brunei, Nigeria, Borneo, Thailand, Eastern Europe and Australia. Reid is also a former chair of the British Railways Board, Sears, London Electricity, ICE Futures Europe and its associated Clearing House, ICE Clear Europe.

Commenting on the appointment, Rod Clark, managing director at Belltree, said, “His standing in the global business community and wealth of experience comes at a key stage in our business growth. We are continuing to build on our recent successes, including our North Sea benchmarking project for the UK government.”

He hopes that Reid’s vast experience in the industry will be vital in helping the company to provide a global E&P benchmarking capability to investors, operators and regulators.

Belltree has been supplying high-end reservoir engineering, geoscience and petroleum management consultancy services to clients worldwide for more than 10 years.

Speaking to the press, Reid said, “While the industry is facing many challenges, including environmental and political issues, Belltree is helping to maximise oil and gas recovery in countries around the world and I look forward to helping them build upon this.”

In October 2017, Belltree completed a major contract for the oil and gas authority (OGA) as part of its asset stewardship strategy. The company was also appointed to develop recovery factor benchmarks for more than 400 oil and gas fields on the UK Continental Shelf (UKCS).
