Iraq crude output hits record level December last year

Iraq has produced a record of about four million bpd of crude oil in December 2014, announced the country’s oil minister

Adel Abdel Mehdi, oil minister of Iraq, also revealed plans to export oil to Kirkuk and Kurdistan Region of Iraq.

“We have agreed to keep the level of exports at 375,000 bpd for the first three months of the year and from April 2015, we will increase exports to 600,000 bpd,” added Mehdi.

According to the oil minister, the oil from Iraq is exported via a pipeline network from the Kurdistan Region of Iraq to the Turkish Mediterranean port of Ceyhan.

Iraq’s State Oil Marketing Organisation official said that the previous monthly record for Iraqi crude oil production was 3.56mn bpd in 1979.
