France to partner UAE to develop its energy sector

UAE and France jointly organised second UAE-France Oil and Gas Symposium in Abu Dhabi to explore opportunities in Oil and Gas industry and in energy sector

A part of UAE’s vision 2021 agenda, the symposium was aimed to organise workshops to enable local companies find innovative solutions through French technology within the new and contemporary energy context.

EVOLEN, the French association of companies related to the Oil and Gas industry and Energy Futures, and Business France organised meetings between French companies and Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) group under the patronage of HE Michel Miraillet, ambassador of France to the UAE.

In the meeting, French companies showcased their innovative and technical solutions designed to meet and anticipate the demands of a fast-changing sector.

French experts in the industry gave presentations on a wide range of topics including energy efficiency, operating facilities, digital innovations and smart infrastructures, energy storage, refining and petrochemical, water management and waste treatment, control systems, revamping etc.

HE Michel Miraillet said, “The Strategic Dialogue Committee initiated in 2013 between our 2 countries was determined to move forward towards this objective. Traditionally, large contracts represent the core of our exports with an industry driven by international leaders such as Total, Veolia. However French SME’s are more and more active in the UAE, either on their own or acting as subcontractors to large companies.”

The French Industry has a long tradition covering the entire spectrum of Oil and Gas activities all over the world in terms of research and development, innovation, technology, geosciences, equipment, projects and services.

UAE is the second largest trade partner of France in the gulf region, after KSA, with bilateral trade reaching US$5bn recently. In 2016, the federation remain France’s main export market in the gulf region with US$3.8bn.
